Exploding Soup Did you know ham can explode? I didn't. I heated a 1/2 can of Campbells Chunky Split Pea w/Ham for 1 minute. I then stuck in my spoon, expecting to stir the soup and heat some more. Instead, the bit of ham I touched exploded in my face (leaning into the microwave in order to stir). A big chunk hit my lower lip and burned a spot, but it isn't visibly damaged. Just glad it didn't hit an eye! I cleaned up the interior of the microwave, heated another 15 seconds (originally planned for 45) without incident. Phew!
....And we're back! I finally got some room to setup my server again. It's old and it's crappy, but it runs, for the time being. Service may be spotty, just to warn you.

Cookie Monster is a poor role model Perhaps by now you've heard that Cookie Monster is changing his ways. Really, what kid takes C!M seriously; "hey, Cookie Monster stuffs his face with cookies, I will too". I grew up without Sesame Street (meaning I didn't watch it, though it was available) and I still stuffed my face with cookies whenever the opportunity presented itself! Next they'll have Big Bird get a personal trainer, because he is rather wide at the hips you know. RIP Andre Norton I am saddened to hear that Andre Norton has died. I've only read a couple of her books, and she was far from my favorite author, but she was a prolific influence on the SciFi/Fantasy genre. Suffer the Children
At least the Nation-less child is unlikely to suffer this fate:

Spanish Muslims issue fatwa against Bin Laden I wonder what took so long, for Muslim leaders to really take a stand against terrorism in the name of their religion? I've also long thought that the only "solution" to the terror in Iraq will take the action of citizens there; they must form their own paramilitary organizations in order to hunt down those responsible for bombing fellow citizens. Why don't they do more to stop the bombings themselves? I know the US government won't care for such organizations (nor likely the Iraqi gov'ment), and it smacks of vigilante justice, but the official military forces just haven't been effective. Perhaps only those who live there, those with a real stake in their communities, can fight back effectively. They can gather the information and act stealthily in a way we Americans cannot.
Do you remember when the exit strategy of choice was "get bought by Yahoo"?
Here we go again.
