What Mood Are You In?
You Are In a Good Mood

Today, you're feeling pretty together and happy. While not everything is going you're way, you're keeping things in perspective. And it seems like things are looking up for you!

are you java powered? I was gonna get cool swag, but then there was a stupid form at the end just to download a graphic. Sorry, not even a free T-shirt can tempt me.

Do you remember when the exit strategy of choice was "get bought by Yahoo"?

Amazon Friends

Have you ever heard of Amazon Friends? I hadn't. Tonight I received an invitation to be someone's "friend", someone I'd never heard of before. I suspected phishing, and went to Amazon manually. It is legit, I guess, though when I searched by my invitor's last name I found someone else. So I'm still suspicious.

board game recommendations

Hixie keeps posting about his (?) fun board game gatherings. I just wish he'd include links to more info about the games. Many of them have such generic names that even Google is largely useless. But I keep reading, there are a bunch I'd like to try out with my friends.

We're Number One Minneapolis MN was chosen by Popular Science as the top tech city in the USA.

What made Minneapolis our high-tech champ? It ranked first among U.S. cities in innovative transportation solutions, fourth in energy technology. The city fell above the 50th percentile in every category measured, a broad-based showing of tech savvy that set it apart from the competition. With everything averaged together, there is no city in America where a culture of high technology has a more pervasive presence.

Re: SHA-1 "broken"

Thanks to Sam Ruby for putting it in perspective.

At one hash operation per nanosecond, a collision can be found in less than twenty millennium.[SHA-1 "Broken"]

People have been getting hysterical about this. As Sam points out, this may be something to worry about, but we've got some time yet.
