I had to laugh, Lance, since that seems to be the bane of OpenSource... people want something for nothing.
Then again, I have to tell you, I'd be willing to bet that there are scads of people like me out there... willing to write docs for OS, but there doesn't seem to be a huge gagn of developers looking for a non-developer to write docs that the average Schmoe can decipher. Catch-22?
Are you kidding? Every OS project I've seen at one time or another has posted "Is there somebody out there willing to write user docs?". I've yet to see a taker (probably because this happens on the "dev" list?).
Wanna write some nice User docs for Roller? Thanks!
Sure! I like Roller, I have some definate ideas on different implementation details, but that doesn't detract from the great "product" Roller has become. You want some docs I'll happily chip in.
Lance, not sure if you have seen, but perhaps Maven can be of some help, at least for managing the dev of the roller site. Maven (at apache.org) is a development management tool of sorts. Go check it out, we are using it on my open-source project. Very nice.
