Ok, Hubby and I are having difficulty coming up with a name for Jr. Soooo, I thought I'd post the names here and let you help us decide! Okay, I know it's hoaky, and I probably won't take your final advise - BUT! - you have nothing invested here and can give us some impartial advise! Rejoice!
A few things to keep in mind - None of our children's names can be shortened down to a nick name, the kidos names are pretty irish sounding and not overly popular. And the most important thing - our last name is Lavandowska!!!! (La-van-dow-ska) Which makes coming up with names all that harder!
1) Maximillian Gustavus - we came up with this name one night when we were joking around - Lo and Behold, Hubby now LOVES this name! I like Max - but think in general, we're setting the kid to be beaten up daily. Hubby already wants to call him Max Gus, my Mom wants to call him Gus-Gus, after the mouse on Cinderella!
2) Garrett Michael - I came up with this name right away - Michael is after my Dad and really want to use it. Hubby has fought this name from the beginning - but has now said that he could live with it. I think he feels a tad guilty that I was willing to compromise on Jack and Max ( I said I could tolterate Maximillian Michael or Maxwell) and now feels that he should also compromise -but I don't want a name he hates!
3) Rhys Michael - Rhys pronounce Reece - Hubby came up with this when I was in the hospital after the fall. I don't mind it and could come to love it - Hubby now thinks Garrett sounds stronger.
4) Jack Michael - Hubby loved Jack forever! Now, thinks it's ok - I've grown to like it. Jack is the name of my uncle and grandfather. When I mentioned it to my Mom she kind of flinched - I don't think she likes the name!
Those are it! Please vote!

I have to say that any name that inspires your mom to nickname the child after the fat dopey mouse from a Disney movie does not bode well for not being beaten. :)
I guess if I HAD to pick from the four you have, I'd go with Rhys. The Gus-Gus name, well... enough said. :) Garrett and Jack, at least around here, are getting to be as common as John and Michael. In fact, Jackson was our boy name for Beanie, and I'm so glad she was a girl, because I swear we've run into about 15 different Jacks since then between day care, Gymboree, and swim class.

Üder is the fat German kid on the Simpsons.
I've always liked (from the Animaniacs) Princess Anna Louisa Berthe Francesca Banana Bana Fo Fesca the Third (but you can call her Dot). Buckminster Fullerine Lavandowska is almost as good -- it just needs a bit more work on the rhythm.

I would go with Garret Lance, but that's just because my family passes the father's name down to the son's middle name.
If I should have a son, I quite like Tomas Henri, but my wife won't let me name our son after my cat [Tomas] :) Nickname would be Mash, after the Hungarian pronounciation.

Like Jennifer put it: Rhys is hard to spell and pronounce for uneducated simpletons and if you want something common and easy, go with Reece or Reese or Rece. Its easy and a good name.
Personally, my first son will be named Rhys Braden because I detest common names (consider how many kids will be named the same in his class) and I also don't give a rats ass whether its too hard for the slower ones to figure out. Rhys is more unique and i like it. I mean, black parents name their kids made up names that even they can't spell, and others...(trust me...i work in a baby nursery...Va Gina for God's sake......)
